This volume contains the Invitatories, Hymns, Antiphons, Psalms and Verses of Matins according to the Roman Breviary as it was in 1954 before the reforms of Pius XII, for those days that use the weekly psalter, that is, every day except Doubles of the First and Second class, and nine-lessons feasts of the Lord, the Angels, the Blessed Virgin, the Apostles and the Precursor, with musical notation. The Hymns are those before the reforms of Urban VIII. The gregorian scores for Invitatories and Antiphons carry Solesmes-style rhythmic signs as well as Sangallian neumes taken from the Hartker Antiphonary, whenever possible.Tones of the psalm Venite exsultemus, Lessons and Responsories are not included. Common tones for the Domine labia mea, Te Deum and Benedicamus Domino, are included.Invitatories and Hymns from the Commons and Proper of Saints (except feasts that have proper psalmody) are included. This book, together with the Festive Psalter ("Psalterium Nocturnum : in festis majoribus"), enables the singing of Matins for the whole liturgical year, in such a way that for any given day, you only need one of the two books for the psalmody - in addition to an Invitatoriale for the Breviary for the lessons, and a Liber Responsorialis for the responsories.Hand-held book (as opposed to a choir book to be used on a lectern), rubrics and neumes in red, foreword in French and English, Psalmody in Latin.
