This set includes four 1.980-inch stainless steel boat trailer bearings with protective bras.Constructed from stainless steel, these bearings offer resistance to rust and are designed for use in saltwater environments.They are compatible with most 4- and 5-bolt hub assemblies.The bearings work with systems that maintain approximately 3 psi of internal pressure within the hub to help reduce water ingress when submerged.This pressure supports extended bearing life and allows for periodic greasing between full hub repacks.The system features a movable piston with a black indicator ring: when the hub is fully greased, the piston extends about 1/8 inch.If the piston retracts or can be easily pressed inward, additional grease may be required.Grease is added through a central fitting on the piston.Lubricant level and pressure can be checked by gently pressing the piston—if it moves slightly, the hub is properly filled.An automatic pressure relief mechanism helps prevent overfilling and protects the inner seal.Before installation, inspect hubs and bearings for damage, rust, or pitting.Clean out old grease and , and verify that inner seals are intact and operate smoothly against the spindle.During reassembly, fill hubs completely with a multipurpose NLGI Grade No.2 lubricant similar to those used in automotive suspensions.Avoid heavy or fibrous greases, and do not mix different grease types.
